Frequently asked questions
Everything we get asked most. If your question is not here, call us at 615-410-9478 - the people who answer the phone are the people who run the truck.
How much does TN Tree Bros charge for tree removal?+
Tree removal pricing depends on tree height, trunk diameter, location relative to structures, and access. Small tree under 30ft: $400-700. Medium tree 30-60ft: $700-1,400. Large tree 60-80ft: $1,400-2,000. Very large or difficult access: $2,000-2,500+. We give you a flat quote before any work starts - no per-hour billing, no surprise add-ons after the crew arrives.
How quickly can you schedule tree service?+
Non-emergency scheduled work typically books 3-7 business days out in Middle Tennessee. Emergency response for active hazards - tree on a structure, road-blocking fall, widow-maker limb - is 24/7 same-day. Quote requests through this site get a callback within 30 minutes during business hours.
What cities do you serve?+
We currently serve Murfreesboro, Hendersonville, Franklin, Brentwood, Mt. Juliet, Gallatin, Smyrna, Lebanon - that covers most of Middle Tennessee. If you are in a town not on the list, call us with your zip code and we will tell you on the spot whether we can reach you.
Are your crews certified arborists?+
Our arborists are trained and experienced in tree care. For jobs requiring ISA-certified documentation - such as HOA permit work, cabling, or insurance adjuster reports - ask us about certified arborist availability through our operator network. ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) certification is the tree care industry standard credential. Not every crew member on-site is certified, but every job is scoped by a trained professional.
Do I need a permit to remove a tree?+
Most residential tree removals in Tennessee do not require a permit, but HOA covenants, local ordinances, and protected species regulations vary by municipality. Brentwood, Franklin, and some Hendersonville HOA communities have specific tree removal approval requirements. We can advise you on what applies to your job before we schedule.
What do you do with the tree after removal?+
Wood is chipped and either hauled away or left as mulch on-site per your preference. Larger logs can sometimes be left for firewood if you want them. Brush is chipped and hauled. Stumps are ground if you add that service. We leave the site clean - no debris pile left behind.
Do I need to be home for the job?+
For most tree removal and trimming jobs, you do not need to be home if access is clear and we have confirmed the job scope on the quote call. For large or complex jobs - crane work, jobs near structures, lot clearing - we ask that you or a representative be available on-site. We will tell you on the quote call which applies.
Does my homeowner insurance cover tree removal?+
If a tree falls on an insured structure (house, garage, fence), most Tennessee homeowner policies cover removal costs. A tree that falls in the yard without contacting a structure is typically not covered. We provide photos and written documentation suitable for insurance claims on emergency jobs - let us know when you call and we will make sure you have what your adjuster needs.
What is the difference between tree trimming and tree topping?+
Tree trimming (pruning) removes specific dead, weak, or structurally problematic branches following ANSI A300 standards. It improves structure and extends tree life. Topping removes large portions of the crown indiscriminately - it destroys the tree's structural integrity, creates massive wound openings that invite disease, and significantly shortens the tree's lifespan. We do not top trees. If another company proposes topping, that is a red flag.
How do you handle utility-line tree work?+
We do not perform tree work in or around energized utility lines. That requires OSHA Part 1910.269 utility line clearance certification and coordination with the utility provider. If your tree is contacting or near a power line, call 811 and your utility provider first. Once the line is de-energized or properly protected, we can proceed. We will tell you this upfront on the quote call rather than showing up and refusing.
Are you licensed and insured?+
Yes. TN Tree Bros is fully licensed and insured in Tennessee for tree removal and arborist services. We carry general liability and workers compensation insurance covering the crew and your property during the job. Before any tree crew arrives at your home, we can provide proof of insurance on request.
How does payment work?+
Card, cash, or check on completion. No deposits, no upfront billing. We text or email you the flat price after the quote call so you have it in writing before the crew arrives. For multi-day jobs like lot clearing, we may structure milestone payments - those are agreed in writing before work starts.
